Itzel Osorio is a Ph.D. student in Economics at El Colegio de Mexico. She holds a Master’s in Economics degree from El Colegio de Mexico (2017) and a Bachelor in Economics degree from Centro de Investigacion y Docencia Economicas (CIDE, 2013). Her research interests include Energy Economics, focused on electric markets and renewable energy, Microeconomics, and Industrial Organization. Her Ph.D. dissertation is about market incentives to invest in green energy from a Microeconomics perspective. She is also interested in storage as a mechanism to fight the intermittency of clean energy generation and the green certificates market. She has been a Statistics and Microeconomics professor’s assistant to undergraduate students at CIDE and El Colegio de Mexico. Before pursuing her Ph.D., she worked in the electricity division at the Energy Regulatory Commission. There she followed up on the execution of the Mexican capacity market, participated in evaluating the regulatory rules to implement the Financial Transmission Rights Auctions, and was part of the team that led the activities related to the Mexican green certificates’ mechanism.
