Postdoctoral Associate

Samuel Dolbee received his PhD in History and Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies from New York University in 2017. He has previously held postdoctoral fellowships with Harvard University Mahindra Humanities Center and Brandeis University’s Crown Center for Middle East Studies. During the year at Agrarian Studies, he will complete revisions to his book manuscript, entitled Locusts of Power: Borders, Empire, and Environment in the Modern Middle East. The project examines how locusts and people made the environment of the Jazira region, today stretching across Iraq, Syria, and Turkey.
