Visiting Fellow

I’m a German political scientist and historian focussing on current politics and recent history of Central and Eastern Europe. My main topics are consolidation of democracy and dedemocratization, politics of history, Polish-German relations, borderland studies, political culture of the countries of the region, and EU cohesion policy. During my stay at MacMillan Center I’ll focus on two books, an introduction into politics and history of Central and Eastern Europe and a work concerning the ideological background of illiberal governments in Poland and Hungary, which I perceive as an assaults on the very ideas of enlightenment.
