Louis M. Wasser is a doctoral candidate in political science. He graduated from Cornell in 2007 with a BA in Government and a minor in International Relations. His dissertation explores the roots of variation in opposition group strategies, including institutional and (both violent and nonviolent) extra-institutional actions. A related co-authored piece on secessionist strategies and methods is forthcoming in the Journal of Conflict Resolution. His research interests also include the Middle East and North Africa, natural resources, and the American Civil War. Prior to graduate school, Louis was a Cairo-based economic journalist.
