Frank Cirillo is the Postdoctoral Associate for the Fall 2020 semester at Yale’s Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Abolition, and Emancipation. He received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Virginia in 2017, and has previously held fellowships at the University of Virginia, the New-York Historical Society, and the Library of Congress, among others. His research examines the histories of slavery and antislavery in the nineteenth-century United States. Frank’s upcoming book project, The Abolitionist Civil War, examines the heated divisions among transatlantic abolitionists over the American Civil War.
