Valentina Rozo-Angel is a graduate in both economics and business administration and holds a master’s degree in economics from the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. She is currently a student at the Universidad de San Andrés, Argentina, in the Master of Data Science program. Valentina has dedicated her career to the application of quantitative methods for the defense and promotion of human rights. She was the first economist to join the litigation team at the NGO Dejusticia, in Colombia, providing scientific evidence to support the cases. Afterwards, she became the Analytics Lead in the Truth Commission in Colombia, leading more than 30 research projects to find patterns of violence that occurred during more than 60 years of conflict. She has also been a Research Officer at the University of Essex and a consultant for the UN Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights. More recently, she joined the NGO Human Rights Data Analysis Group as a consultant to provide scientific evidence on understanding the magnitude of war in Colombia. In 2021 she was  recognized by FemiList 100 for her work in the Global South. Her research focuses on using machine learning algorithms for understanding civil war in Colombia.
