Jennifer Strtak

Jennifer Strtak is a PhD candidate in the combined History and Renaissance Studies Program at Yale. In her research, she uses carriages as an investigative tool to explore how transportation shaped built environments, new forms of social interaction, and the regulation of human movement in Paris between 1600-1800. Her project is rooted in the belief that historical studies of transportation accessibility and infrastructure can aid contemporary planners in creating more effective, equitable, and long-lasting transport systems. The knowledge generated by her dissertation will therefore be shared with academic communities and policy forums to create more functional transport policies that increase mobility levels and improve environmental sustainability. Prior to coming to Yale, Jennifer completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts at Trinity College, University of Toronto, and a Master of Philosophy at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge.
